Why McCain will win, and how i learned this on a Campus
Today as i was tabling, several times I would ask a group of students, "hey you guys interested in college republicans?" or "how do you feel about john mccain?" they all laugh and then keep walking. But then, after they have all stepped out the door (it is 10 degrees in Minnesota right now, so i table inside), one or two of them will always come back and sign up, looking over his or her shoulder to make sure the friends are not watching.
Peer pressure.
What i'm seeing is on average a group of six will send back one closet conservative. There are 17 million college students in the united states. In 2004, 42% of college age people voted (18-24) . If we up that to 50%, to make due with all of the pundits claim that obama is mobilizing young people, that means that this year, 8.5 million people ages 18-24 will vote. In 2004, 55% of students voted Kerry. If we up that to 60% for Obama (again because of the youth's love for him), that means that 5.1 million students will claim to vote for Obama.
SO if the one in six rule holds true, then of those 5.1 Mil who say they support the Messiah, 850,000 of them will actually vote for McCain, bringing McCain's total to a whopping 4.25 Million, EXACTLY THE SAME AMOUNT AS OBAMAS new total!!!
Essentially, if Obama loses 16.6% of his "support" on campus, he's done for.
Did i confuse anyone yet?
